The Director of Media and Publicity of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Emma Powerful, has released a statement saying the group is not responsible for the shooting in Enugu State on Monday.

Why it matters?
There was a sporadic shooting by unknown gunmen on Monday as a caution to those who did not obey the sit-at-home order by the leadership of Biafra.

Emma Powerful in his statement debunked any claims that these gunmen were members of IPOB. He said these gunmen were criminals and should be prosecuted by the law if caught.

Emma Powerful further explained that there is no sit-at-home order in effect every Monday in the southeast, as the group has suspended theirs since September 2021.

He assured Nigerians that IPOB is not a violent group and that they will continue to conduct their activities peacefully and in the interest of the Igbo people.
