The Assistant Director of Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Afolabi Bello, has said that Cocoa is topping the list of exportable products. This is an encouraging news at a time where export revenue is remarkably increasing.
Why it matters?
Nigeria’s export produce has been increasing in revenue generated. This increase came in the first half of the year. Also, the NEPC says this is the highest rate Agric products have ever been.
Afolabi Bello said this while speaking at an agricultural event in Osun State. He said that what Nigeria needs to do to better these highs is to continue to improve the quality of its non-oil exports.
He said, “Based on the figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics, cocoa was even the number-one exportable agricultural product. We are seeing the impact of export promotional activities but we can do better because there are still some gaps and challenges.”
