On Thursday, 16th December, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu announced that President Muhammadu Buhari would leave for Istanbul to attend the third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit.

The third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit is an initiative by the Turkish Government to expand business relationships between Turkey and Nigeria. Turkish President, President Erdogan had in his recent visit to Nigeria signed an agreement of expansion in fields of energy, defense industry, mining and hydrocarbons.
On this trip, which is to last till 19th of December, President Buhari would be in the company of his wife, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Defence, Maj-Gen. Bashir Magashi (Rtd); FCT, Mohammed Bello; Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; Agriculture, Mohammed Abubakar; Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo; the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd); and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
