The Central Bank of Nigeria has said it will give N5.7bn to 10,000 wheat farmers in Bauchi State. This loan is to support farmers during the dry season.

The Central Bank Comptroller, Bauchi Branch, Saladu Idris while speaking at the flag-off of this initiative said that 10,000 farmers were each to receive N370,000 cash, six bags of urea, four bags of NPK fertilizer, pumping and spraying machines.
Mr. Idris said that this initiative of the apex bank is to avoid the scarcity of wheat that the country faces during the dry season and the unavailability of dollars to import wheat from other countries. He stressed the need to grow this crop locally and its advantages over foreign products.
