National Union of Electricity Employee.

Members of the National Union of Electricity Employees have ended a strike action which lasted for only 24hours following the intervention of the Federal Government.

The Big Picture.
The National Union of Electricity Employees embarked on a strike on Monday morning to express their displeasure over the non-payment of their bonuses and entitlements; although the Minister of Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, had over the weekend appealed to the union not to embark on the industrial strike. The strike had taken effect in Abuja as Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) shut down its facilities.

Following an intervention meeting between the union and representatives of the Government, an MOU which stated that payment would be made in 21 days was signed by both parties. The electricity union has therefore announced that the strike is now suspended.
