Gunmen enforcing the sit-at-home order in the southeast region of Nigeria on Monday struck again by burning down a truckload of Dangote Cement truck in Enugu State.

Driving the news
An eyewitness account said that the fire instigated by the gunmen consumed over 600 bags of cement with the driver and motor boy barely escaping the incident.

What they are saying
The spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command Daniel Ndukwe, confirming the incident, assured residents that the security agency is working to apprehend the perpetrators of this societal violence.

Current situation
IPOB, a group widely accused of instigating and perpetrating violence in the region, has constantly pleaded their innocence against the allegations of killing, abduction and theft. Although IPOB has cancelled the imposed sit-at-home order, unknown gunmen have continued to enforce the order on residents in the southeastern region of the country and attacking those disregarding the order.

What this means
Violence would cause businesses to move out of the five eastern states, increasing the already existing issues such as unemployment and the loss of internally generated revenue for both state and federal governments.
