Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and H.E. Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, met in Abuja.

The European Commission Executive Vice-President, Margrethe Vestager has on Sunday announced a €820 million investment in Nigeria’s digital economy.

The European Commission Executive Vice-President, Margrethe Vestager while in a meeting with Vice-President Prof Yemi Osinbanjo said the investment package is a part of the Global Gateway Africa-Europe Investment Package worth €150 billion announced by the commission’s president. Margrethe Vestager added that the investment package will help Nigeria support entrepreneurship, equip individuals with digital skills and much more.

According to Vice President Osinbanjo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, the vice president said that improving the use of digital technology in the country is part of the country’s National Development Plan. Prof Yemi Osinbanjo further expressed his appreciation to the EU for voicing support to the country’s plan of gas as a transition fuel.
