On Sunday, the presidency revealed that there is no plan to include Tax Identification Number on the finance bill of 2022.
Why it matters?
It has been earlier reported by Brief and several news outlets that the finance bill (2022) would mandate local banks to request for Tax Identification Number from customers looking to open a new account or continue to operate an existing one.
A statement by a top presidency said that “No TIN requirement for Nigerians to operate bank accounts in Finance Bill 2022.”
The proposed finance bill would affect sectors such as gaming and lottery companies, petroleum companies, FIRS, says the presidency. This bill is to be defended next week at both the House of Assembly and House of Representatives.
