The National Executive Council on Thursday decided during its first meeting of 2022 that it would decide on fuel subsidy in June.

The council meeting was chaired by the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo on Thursday with the 36 governors in attendance, both physically and online. 

While speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Abdulahi Sule, Governor of Adamawa State, said the payment of fuel subsidy is only until June in the 2022 budget. He added that the decision on the removal of fuel subsidy will be made by June.

He explained that the federal government was spending N2 trillion on payment of subsidy, which is only consumed by two-thirds of the states in Nigeria.
