The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Yakubu Mahmood told the appropriation committee on Monday that it has set the budget for 2023 general elections at N305 billion.

While the commission has already earned N100 billion from the appropriation, INEC Chairman is seeking another N205 billion to make up the budget.
The appropriation committee, which is headed by Senator Barau Jibril, APC Kano North, when speaking with journalists on Monday said that the committee would consider the request and pass it.
INEC Chairman further added that the N305 billion is aside from the N40 billion yearly budget.
