A Federal High Court in Abuja has on Tuesday granted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA the right to keep Abba Kyari and six others in their custody for an extra 14 days.

Why it matters.
On February 21st 2022, Abba Kyari requested bail on the grounds of his health. He told the court that he had chronic diabetes and should make bail to enable him to undergo proper treatment. The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police who went into police just 8days ago is under investigation for drug ties to an international cartel and links to international fraudster Abbas Ramon aka Hushpuppi.

In the application granted by the court, NDLEA requested that the court grant the agency a 14-day period to conclude its investigation into Abba Kyari and six other persons. The presiding judge, Justice Zainab Abubakar, granted the agency and gave NDLEA an extension of 14days
