In a letter addressing the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the leadership of the All-Progressive Congress has officially declared February 26 as the date for the party’s National Convention.

Why it matters?
The letter which was presented to INEC was signed by both the National Secretary, John Akpanudoedehe and Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Mai Mala Buni.

In the letter, the party urged the electoral commission to send its officials to monitor the activities on the set day.

The ruling party has declared the date for its national convention despite the internal crisis the party has been facing in recent times. With several worries that the internal disputes amongst party members could prevent the convention from being held, this official letter debunks such doubts.
