A large quantity of crystal methamphetamine that was being shipped to Dubai was discovered by Nigerian authorities hidden inside fish heads that were packed in cartons. The cargo was discovered on Friday in an 11.9kg shipment that was intended for export at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The seizure was reported on Sunday by the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The haul, according to the FBI, consisted of 442 pieces that were each wrapped in foil paper and hid under the heads of hundreds of smoked catfish. Seven boxes were used to transport them.
According to a statement from NDLEA, the freight agent who delivered the crates to the airport was detained.
