Former Emir of Kano – Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

A Federal High Court in Abuja has on Tuesday cancelled the banishment of Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the state.

Why it matters?
Ex-Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was dethroned and banished from Kano state for his continuous vocalization of his opinions in the public state. It was then said that the former Emir had too many disagreements with the then Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Justice Anwuli Chikere, who revisited the matter on Tuesday, said the banishment violated the Ex-Emir Fundamental and Human Rights. Justice Chikere awarded N10 million to the Ex-Emir as damages against the Kano State Government, the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services. She ordered them to tender an official apology to the Ex-Emir in no less than two national dailies.
