An Ebonyi State High Court has ruled for both Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi and his Deputy Kelechi Igwe to retain their governorship status. He further slated a hearing for March 16th for its motion to take precedence over that of the federal high court in Abuja.
The Ebonyi State high court had earlier ruled on February 28th just before the federal high court ruling in Abuja on the 8th of March, that Governor David Umahi and his deputy Kelechi Igwe did not flout any law by defecting to the All-Progressive Congress.
By the Ebonyi State court ruling, all the unseated political office holders retain their positions.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly in Ebonyi State has called for calm amongst his constituents.
Meanwhile, a federal high court in Abuja has set April 8th for the final verdict on the suit, seeking to remove Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mutawale, from office for his defection from the PDP to APC in 2021.
