The spokesman of the Senate, Ajibola Basiru, while speaking at an interview yesterday, 14th December said that the lawmakers will not go to war with the President over the unsigned electoral bill.
The Big Picture.
Lawmakers handed the Electoral Amendment Bill over to President Buhari on the 19th November to be signed following the careful consideration of both National Assembly and House of Representatives.
The issues the lawmakers raised borders on INEC’s incorporating of technology into the electoral processes, in accrediting voters, electronic voting and electronic transmission of results from polling units.
While speaking at the interview, Ajibola Basiru said, “When the president takes the decision, whatever the generality of the National Assembly thinks, we all will know. I think it is too early to seek to put us on a war path with the president. We will take decision we think is in the best interest of the country.”
