At the Federal Executive Council meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday, the council approved the allocation of N115.4bn for the dualisation of the Kano-Kazaure-Kongolam highway in Katsina State and $183.57 for railway consultancy services.

Speaking to newsmen after the council meeting, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, said that the council approved funding of the 131.4 kilometers Kano-Kazaure-Kongolam from single carriageway to dual.
Also, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, said that the construction of railways across the country which was yet to begin has received approval to begin consultancy. Listing the rail tracks, the Minister named Port Harcourt-Maiduguri, Kano-Maradi and Abuja-Warri. He added that the consultation would cost $183.57 million.
The council did not leave out the Ministry of State for Environment and Ministry of State for Health as they approved memos for an energy transition plan and consultancy services to build the corporate headquarters of National Health Insurance Scheme, respectively.
