Gabriel Aduda, permanent secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has said in a statement that the Federal Government is working to ensure easy evacuation of Nigerians from Ukraine. 

Why it matters. 
As the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to intensify, the Federal Government is working to ensure they safely move Nigerians to neighboring countries around Ukraine. The Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the Federal Government has negotiated a free visa for the Hungarian Zahony border and Romanian Suceava, Tulcea, Satu Mare County and Maramures borders. He added that there was also provision for food and accommodation on arrival. 

In related news, videos appearing on social media suggested that Nigerians and Africans trying to exit the country were being racially abused by sidelining them when transport arrived. The Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), Garba Shehu, speaking on behalf of the presidency, said that President Buhari was displeased with the situation. He further called on the officials to ensure that people of all colors be treated with equality as directed under the UN Convention.
