The Federal Executive Council in its weekly virtual meeting approved the N35 billion budget for projects in the aviation sector in Nigeria.
Current situation
The N35 billion project includes procurement of equipment and the maintenance and construction of terminal buildings at the Asaba airport, Abuja airport, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State and Port Harcourt airport, Rivers State.

Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, addressing the press after the council meeting, gave details of the budget, adding that the goal is to ensure that public buildings are well maintained.
- N5.6 billion of the approved funds will be for maintaining the new international building terminals in Abuja and Port Harcourt.
- N14.2 billion goes to the construction of terminal buildings at Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu State and at Asaba Airport.
- N 469.4 million for the purchase of an L3 X-ray machine part and maintenance support services.
- Other aspects of the budget covers airport clinics, replacement of elevators and evacuators, procurement, configuration, delivery and commissioning of transportable radars in different airports across Nigeria.
