Former Nigeria Senate President Joseph Waya has died after a brief illness. In response to this news, former vice-president Abubakar Atiku and others have reacted to the Nations loss.
Why it matters?
Following the death of former Senate President, several Nigerian politicians have reacted to the news by referring to the Late Waya Joseph as a national hero.
One of which is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha. He says, “Dr. Wayas as an astute politician, a firm believer in federalism, who worked hard to ensure oneness and indivisibility of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He laments that he died at a time his wise counsel would be needed at this point of the nation’s history.”
The former vice-president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar said, “The legacy of his political beliefs and triumphs will be important footnotes in the literature of Nigeria’s government and politics for generations yet to come.”
The incoming National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyiochia Ayu, said “As Senate President in the Second Republic, he brought stability, style and depth to his leadership of the National Assembly at the time.”
