The Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, gifted the families of the three police officers who were killed in active-duty last November a total sum of 30 million.
Why it matters?
In November at Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Late Inspectors Isaac Isodje, Saviour Udeh, and Ebenezer Edward, were killed while on duty at a checkpoint.
Mr Paulinus Nsirim, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, presented the compensation to the families. In his address, he said that Governor Wike’s kind gesture is to ensure that the families of late servicemen are well to do.
Mr. Paulinus Nsirim further extended the Governor’s goodwill to the families and the Police command of Rivers State. In response, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Eboka Friday, praised Governor Wike’s gesture and encouraged the public officers.
