Kaduna state government has on Friday lifted a two-month ban on phone services in some local government in the state. They placed this ban to fight the activities of bandits in the state and on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
Why it matters?
The government of Kaduna state placed a ban on mobile phone services on 30th of
September as a security measure to tackle banditry in the state. It also banned bikes, selling of fuels in smaller cans, and enforced weekly markets.
Nearly after two months, the State Government led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has lifted the ban of mobile phone services while other security measures remain in place. The State Government, through the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made this announcement.
Although there are still reports of armed robbery, killings and kidnappings on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, other secure security measures are in place to tackle this terror.
