The Lagos State government on Monday disclosed that it has shut down activities in Chrisland School following reports of sexual violation involving some minors of the school. 

Current situation 
The appropriate Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Lagos State government are conducting an investigation to uncover the truth of an alleged sexual violence case involving students of Chrisland school. Pending the outcome of the investigation, the state government has shut all seven branches of the school in the state.

Background to the story 
Students of Chrisland school took part in the World School Games, a four-day annual competition with schools from different parts of the world. Reports say the alleged sexual assault occurred during lights out on one of the nights and filmed by fellow students of the school. 

  • Reports say that the video got to the authorities after one student uploaded the video on social media. 

What they are saying 
The Lagos State Government has said that the Ministry of Education, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Justice and the Lagos State Domestic & Sexual Violence Agency are actively working on the case. The government also warned against possessing or circulating the sex tape as such acts could attract a 14 year’s sentence.
