The Lagos State government has on Monday shut Redeemer’s Nursery and Primary School over the safety of pupils in the school after a 5-year-old pupil by name Chidera Eze drowned during a swimming lesson in the school’s facility.
Driving the news
The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, who announced the state government’s decision on the incident that took place back in May, stated that the school would remain shut until an investigation into the incident is complete.
What the Commissioner said
The Lagos State Commissioner briefing the public on the ongoing investigation disclosed that the Office of Education Quality Assurance of the Ministry has uncovered that Redeemer’s Nursery and Primary School hasn’t completed its registration process, hence it is not an approved school.
- The commissioner added that as the investigation is still ongoing, the school would remain shut following concerns over the safety of the school’s pupils by the Ministry.
