The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi has in a public statement instructed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to stay vigilant over an alleged security breach in the state.
What they are saying
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in the statement on Sunday stated that the security agency is aware of recent threats to disrupt the peace of Lagos State residents.
The statement reads in part that “the command is also working closely with other sister security agencies to ensure that no person or group of persons succeeds in destabilizing the peace and serenity enjoyed by the good people of Lagos State.’’
He also called on the residents not to fail to report suspicious activities to the security agencies in the state.
In case you missed it
The security crisis in the country has raised concern amongst Nigerians over the last few days. Terrorist groups have threatened to kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State while orchestrating attacks in different part of the country.
Most recently, these terrorists launched a daring attack on Nigerian Guards Brigade whose primary duty is to protect the President and his family, the Vice President and other Very Important Persons in the country.
In light of these issues, opposition senators last week staged a walkout during a plenary session to express their displeasure over the handling of the security crisis by Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari. There were also calls for the impeachment of the president.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, ordered the closure and evacuation of students of all unity schools in Abuja.
