The Lagos State Ministry of Education has ordered the reopening of all seven Chrisland schools across Lagos State, Nigeria from April 25th 2022.

Current situation 
As a new term begins on Monday, April 25th 2022, across secondary schools in Nigeria, the Ministry of Education in Lagos State is ensuring its ongoing investigation into a sexual incident involving students of Chrisland school doesn’t impede the learning of other students hence the reopening of the school. 

  • The Ministry of Education and other agencies in Lagos State have set up psychological support for the students.
  • The school is reviewing its safety measures while students are on trips to prevent a recurrence of such events.

The story so far 
The Lagos State Government shut the seven Chrisland school branches in the state to protect both staff and students and to ensure an uninterrupted investigation of the incident involving Chrisland students while at a sports event in Dubai.

Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEAQ), while announcing the reopening of the school, encouraged all proprietors and administrators to ensure students’ compliance with the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. She added that students must learn to shun social vices.
