Some lawmakers, while speaking at Ibadan on Sunday, have disclosed that they have not relented from amending the 1999 constitution.

The Big Picture. 
Mr. Bamidele Salam representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore /Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State while speaking to journalists said amending a country’s constitution is no joke. He added the job requires efforts of stakeholders and institutions to be successful.

Mr Salam also assured Nigerians that the amendment would be ready before the end of the ninth National Assembly. The lawmakers involved include Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi from Ekiti North, Senator Tolu Odebiyi from Ogun West, Senator Kola Balogun from Oyo South, Mr. Bamidele Salam, representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore /Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State; Isiaka Ibrahim representing Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency of Ogun State, and Babajide Obanikoro, representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State.

Speaking on some of the  issues Nigerians have raised, Mr Salam said the south-west needed devolution of power, the south-east clamored for the creation of more states while the south-south was against the 37% increase in derivation funds, etc.
