Members of the House of Representatives have on Thursday, condemned the activities of bandits on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
Why it matters?
The Abuja-Kaduna expressway is one of the major expressways in Nigeria. One can regard it as an economic road because major supply trucks pass that route. In recent times, there has been an alarming rise in violence by bandits on that road.
There have been multiple reports of armed robbery, kidnappings, and killings. In the meetings of the Members of House of Representatives, a lawmaker Garba Datti expressed frustration towards the awful activities by bandits on that route.
He said, “We are worried that the sad consequence of this state of affairs is that this nation and Nigerians have lost a lot in human lives, financial resources, human dignity and citizen confidence as well as that the nation and Nigerians are at risk of losing substantially more.”
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Garba Datti, he said that the state of affairs poses a threat to the lives and properties of Nigerians. To remedy the situation, he called on the appropriate security agency to act fast to secure the lives of travelers.
