The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has filed a court order to keep suspended deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari and his accomplices in detention.
Why it matters?
Abba Kyari and four other police officers are in the drug agency’s custody over their involvement in a 25kg drug seizure in Ethiopia-Enugu drug line. Also, a viral video on social media revealed assets the suspended deputy commissioner of police claims to own from his alleged illegal activities. Reports say that Abba Kyari owns choice hotels in Lekki and Victoria Island, Lagos and Gussappe and Highbrow Asokoro, Abuja. NDLEA. is looking to keep the suspects in their custody longer till they complete their investigation.
With reports of an attempt to free Abba Kyari and his accomplices, the security agencies have tightened security at the premises at Gambia, Area 11, Abuja. In fact, as a security measure, they do not allow visitors from 3:30pm into the agency’s headquarters.
