On Saturday morning, officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, opened fire at partey area of Lagos Island during a raid.

Following the reignited desire by the officials of the NDLEA to end drug abuse in the country, the agency has carried out several raids in different parts of the country in the past few months. Most recent of this raid is the sporadic shooting at partey area of Lagos Island which saw at least five people lose their lives and many more injured to the agency officials.
An eyewitness account revealed that of the five victims, two were a water seller and a bike man. Several videos making rounds on social media confirmed the continuous shooting of these operatives. In a statement released by the agency, the Director of Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, claimed that he was not aware of this incident.
Although in the statement released, the NDLEA said they arrested drug kingpins in partey and recovered 5,862kg of drugs. It also said they arrested Mrs Sherifat Kehinde Lawal, Ahmed Yisau, Solomon Alape, Olayemi Akinola, Salami Qudus, Bakare Rafiu, Rose Samson, Yusuf Rofiat, and Chukwudi Egon.
