Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Sunday revealed the interception of $4.7 million or N2.7 billion of fake cash.
The Big Picture.
On Friday, the officials intercepted a package from Lagos to Abuja full of fake cash. The officials intercepted the fake cash of about $4.7 million or N2.7 billion following an intelligence report of the vehicle received by the Abuja command of the agency. The fake cash influx would have depleted Nigeria’s struggling economy by N2.7billion.
In relation to the fake cash, the spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, announced the arrest of a 52-year-old principal, Abdulmumini Maikasuwa. The agency’s Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has further instructed operatives to hand over the money and suspect to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
