The Oyo State Government is today coronating, Chief Lekan Balogun, Ali Okunmade II as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland at Mapo Hall Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Olubadan of Ibadan is the royal title of the king of Ibadanland in Oyo State, Nigeria. In today’s world, the Olubadan is still an influential figure in the region. The people of Ibadan look to him on matters regarding culture and traditions. He is not hesitant to voice his opinions to political leaders in his region and on matters such as violence, corruption and democracy.
With the coronation of the Olubadan set for today, March 11th 2022, traditional rites which kicked off on Monday would conclude today with a grand ceremony, in which dignitaries across the country will be present.
Babaloja General of Oyo State, Yekini Abass, has announced that all the major markets across the city would be closed to honor the occasion. Also, major roads within the venue metropolis such as Mapo/Ojaba road and Agodi Gate/Aliwo would be partially closed.
The road transport authorities have advised motorists and commuters in Ibadan to seek alternative routes, as traffic is a surety during the period of the coronation.
