The People’s Democratic Party, PDP yesterday ended the sale of tickets for elective positions and also the submission of nomination and interest forms for 2023 general elections.
Reports say that PDP generated N646 million from the sales of tickets to the 17 presidential aspirants hoping to represent the party in the presidential elections come 2023.
As a party policy, the only female aspirant under the party purchased the presidential form at a discounted rate of N6 million.
The National Working Committee of the party has set May 28 and 29 for the primary elections.
Aspirants vying for the presidential ticket include former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, former Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose and former secretary to the government of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.
- Amongst the sitting Governors are Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.
- A United States-based medical practitioner, Nwachukwu Anakwenze and media expert, Dele Momodu, Mohammed Hayata-Deen, a pharmacist, Sam Ohuabunwa, former speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Cosmos Ndukwe, Charles Ugwu, Rt. Hon Chikwendu Kalu and Oliver Tareila Diana are also amongst the lot.
