President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday appointed Mohamed Abdullahi as the Minister of Environment.

With a little over a year to the end of his administration, President Buhari has appointed a new executive to head the ministry of environment. The secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, made the announcement in a statement issued to the press yesterday.
- Mohammed Abdullahi, who was the minister of state for science, technology and innovation is to resume his new role immediately.
Brief background to the story
President Muhammadu Buhari, in September 2021, sacked the then Minister of Agriculture, Sabo Nanono and Minister of Power, after a critical review of his cabinet executives. While the President redeployed the then Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood to replace the former, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Minister of State, Works & Housing replaces the latter.
- Until President Buhari appointed Mohammed Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor has been in charge of the ministry’s affairs.
