Civil servants without proof of vaccination and negative PCR barred from entering Federal Secretariat

On Wednesday, security operatives in Abuja stopped the entry of unvaccinated civil servants into the Federal secretariat.

Why it matters?
The Federal Government gave a directive in October that all civil servants must receive the Covid vaccine by 1st of December. It said that failure to keep to this directive would prevent them from entering Federal building and ultimately cause them to lose their jobs.

The Federal Government has kept to its word as on Wednesday, December 1st, federal workers with neither vaccination cards nor negative PCR test reports entered the Federal secretariat. Although the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria had asked that the deadline be extended to March 2022, the 1st December deadline seems to be in full force.

Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced three cases of the Omicron variant. The NCDC Boss said that this while speaking in Abuja on Wednesday.
