The Red Chamber yesterday approved the nominated commissioners for National Population Commission (NPC) and National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Driving The News. 
The National Population Commission has the responsibility of producing data for the Nigerian people and economy, while the NERC regulates the electric power industry in the country. The Senate Committee, tasked with the responsibility of considering these commissioners, was headed by Senator Ya’u Sahabi Alhaji and Gabriel Suwam, respectively.

For the National Population Commission, the five commissioners nominated are Benedict Ukpong Effiong (Akwa-Ibom), Mrs. Gloria Fateya Izonfo (Bayelsa), Kupchi Patricia Ori Iyanya (Benue), Haliru Bala (Kebbi), and Eyitayo Oyekunle Oyetunji (Oyo). While for the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, the four commissioners are Dr. Yusuf Ali (North Central), Chidi Ike (South East), Mr. Nathan Rogers Shatti (North East), and Mr. Dafe Akpeneye (South South).
