Members of the House of Representatives have on Friday urged the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, to send more police officers to Toro LGA in Bauchi state to join the fight against banditry.

Why it matters?
Toro is the largest LGA in the country, and yet there are just about 70 police officers registered there.

Hon Muda Lawal Umar called the attention of the House to the unending violence going on in the 6,9322km local government area. He said since the start of the year there have been so many cases of violence such as kidnappings, brutal killings and so much.

He said there is a report of a gunman invading a police station in the LGA, shooting sporadically and killing the inspector of Police in that region.

In response, the House of Representatives has called on the Police boss to see that they deploy police forces to the region.
