Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) on Friday attacked some parts of Maiduguri with mortar bombs, killing soldiers and destroying properties in the process.
Why it matters?
Maiduguri has become the latest victim of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) as the insurgency battle between Nigerian Army and the terrorist group continues.
While speaking at the scene of the bombings, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum urged the Nigerian Army in the region to rise to the challenge and end the insurgency in the state. ISWAP’s attack resulted in the partial damage of Ngomari Airport Road and a 1,000 housing estate and causing injury to a 6-month-old baby.
