The acting president of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, has in a televised recorded message declared the country a state of emergency and imposed a curfew to curb the fast-rising protest in certain parts of the country.

The acting president, Ranil Wickremesinghe sworn in just as former president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, fled the country after the protest broke out in the country disclosed that the directive to impose a curfew was due to the reports that protesters were marching towards to the parliament, residences of service commanders and prime minister’s office.
