The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and the Federal Government could not agree on favorable terms during their last closed-door meeting on Tuesday and the strike continues.

The Big Picture.
The chief negotiator on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Labor and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige appealed to the university union to call off the strike saying that the Federal Government is currently reviewing their demands. ASUU, on the other hand, says strike action would continue till the Federal Government shows evidence of implementation of their demands.

While both parties continue to trade blame, the strike action continues for another 18 days as ASUU set a 4-week period for its warning strike. However, the university’s union national president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said while speaking to newsmen that all the union wants is a complete implementation of its demands and the strike ends.
