Former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, through his lawyer Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, has requested a Federal High court in Abuja grant him bail due to the many death threats he receives in Kuje correctional center.

Abba Kyari and the other suspected co-conspirators requested bail on the premise that their lives were being threatened by those they had put behind bars while on active duty.

At Thursday’s court hearing, Abba Kyari’s lawyer informed the court that he has filed for bail for the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th defendant. And that he has submitted the request to the prosecution (National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
- Sunday Joseph, counsel for the prosecution NDLEA reminded the court that the hearing purpose was reviewing the facts to which defendants 6 and 7, Chibuna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne pleaded guilty to the 5,6, and 7-count charge leveled against them.
