Maj. Ishaku Takwa, media officer of the task force, said that troops of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have apprehended the gang responsible for kidnapping in Custodial Center, Jos.

Maj. Ishaku Takwa said in a statement on Friday that the gang which was attacked has been on the military watch list for a long time. The statement read that they neutralized the gang at Gyero, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau.

Reports back in December said that the gang killed operatives of the Nigerian Correctional Service and nine inmates. They also set free about 252 inmates at the custodial center, Jos. Takwa added that during the operation, the task force recovered one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 rifle magazines, 101 live rounds of 7. 62mm ammunition and one tricycle.
