A criminal court in the United Kingdom has adjourned the alleged organ harvesting case against former Nigerian Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu till 31st of October 2022. 

The court ruling implies that the former Nigerian senator would remain in the custody of UK metropolitan police after Beatrice Ekweremadu received bail last month.

The police arrested senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu in June on suspicion of trafficking a 21-year-old for kidney transplant. Reports say that the couple flew the 21-year-old David Ukpo from Nigeria to the UK to transplant his kidney to their daughter diagnosed with kidney failure. 

While they charged Senator Ike Ekweremadu with conspiracy to arrange or facilitate the travel of another person with a view of organ exploitation and reprimanded in jail, his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu with arranging the travel of another person with a view of exploitation. 

What you should know 
A 50-year-old doctor by the name Obinna Obeta was implicated in the case for allegedly plotting organ harvesting with the couple.
