Deployment of Super Tucano Jet to fight bandits.

The United States, through the Press Attaché, US Embassy, Jeanne Clark, on Thursday strongly advised the Nigerian Government to abide by the international norms as articulated in the United Nations Charter if they are to deploy the Super Tucano in the Northwest of Nigeria.

Why it matters?
The Nigerian Government has recently gained a Super Tucano, a fighter jet from the US, to be used in the fight against the bandits terrorizing the Northwest in Nigeria.

The advice from the United States Government came after the Acting Director, Defense Information, Air Commodore Wap Maigida expressed his concerns over the likelihood of the death of civilians if the weapon was to be used.

The statement by the US said that the military shouldn’t deploy the weapon in areas within the police authority and also to fight insecurity with high regard for human rights.
