The Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, Mr. Fidet Okhiria has confirmed the safety of 186 passengers that boarded the train attacked by bandits on March 28th along the Abuja-Kaduna railway track.
Since the bandits’ attack on the passenger train the Kaduna State government, operatives of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and other relevant authorities in a joint operation have been conducting a search to locate the unaccounted victims of the attack.
- NRC has located 186 passengers and reunited them with their various families.
- While 8 people are dead, 168 passengers are still unaccounted for; inclusive of 22 families who have filed a missing person’s report.
On the evening of March 28th, bandits attacked a passenger train carrying 362 people along the Abuja-Kaduna rail track. Reports say that in this attack, bandits abducted an unknown number of people while killing 8 passengers and causing severe damage to the train and rail tracks.

Mr. Fidet Okhiria, while briefing reporters, said the authorities are making efforts to contact and locate the unaccounted victims. He added that they have transferred two coaches of the train to Rigasa station, Kaduna State, bringing the total number of recovered trains to seven. Intensive work is also ongoing to restore the commutability of the track.
