On the 24th November 2021, the United States of America through the Nigerian Embassy says it would begin visa application for every student looking to study in their country.
Why does it matter?
In a statement, the embassy says it is they prepared themselves for the surge in travel application, as the US government lifts the restriction on international travel. The government set the travel ban as a measure to fight the spread of Covid-19. Now that the US government has lifted travel restriction, visa applications will now be attended to.
The Big Picture.
The statement from the embassy says that the set dates for students in Abuja would be December 8, 15 and January 12, while students in Lagos would be November 24, December 8 and 15. It also states that for the application process, the applicants will present a valid current passport and a transcript. If the applicant has an expired passport, they should present a passport with the expired student visa.
Abuja applicants should visit the website www.ustraveldocs.com/ng for their visa application while Lagos applicants would bring all necessary documents to the US consulate on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays between the hours of 12:30-1:00pm. The statement reads: The statement read: “These surge days will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To make an appointment in Abuja, visit www.ustraveldocs.com/ng and review the criteria and instructions to request an emergency student visa interview, and prepare the below documents:
