The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has approved the implementation of N30,000 minimum wage.

The Secretary of the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, who made the announcement on Tuesday, said the new minimum wage would also cover the workers of the local government. Citing the reason for the delay in implementation, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade said the COVID-19 restricted the committee from meeting regularly. 

Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja, thanked the Organized Labor for their patience with the government and for not resolving to strike during the delay. The deputy Governor assured the union and citizens of the state that Governor Yahaya Bello prioritizes the welfare of civil servants. The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Onuh Edoka, at the signing ceremony said that civil servants of Kogi State are now on the same level with their colleagues in other states.
