France alerts world to new Covid-19 variant, IHU.

Barely three months after the discovery of the Omicron variant in the southern region of Africa, France researchers have detected another Covid-19 variant named IHU.

The Big Picture.
France scientists detected the first case of this variant in an individual who recently visited a Western African Country, Cameroon. Since that time, scientists in France have recorded about 12 cases of this variant.

In the paper released by the scientists, they explained studies were still underway to determine the infection rate, mortality and other uniqueness of the variant.

An epidemiologist has taken to Twitter to explain that researchers detect variants all the time, but what makes it more popular is how dangerous it is.

As of the time of this report, the World Health Organization has not tagged this new variant to be one of concern.
