The management of Shebah Exploration and Production Company Ltd have in a statement on Monday announced the discovery of three dead victims of the oil vessel in the Niger Delta.
Why it matters?
Fire consumed the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) last Wednesday at Ukpokiti terminal with the cabin crew of 10 people on board. Chief Executive Officer, Shebah Exploration and Production Company Ltd, Ikemefuna Okafor had last week said that they discovered three of the ten cabin crew alive.
In the statement released on Monday, the company said they had found one body while the Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency, (NIMASA) brought their attention to two other bodies found around FPSO on Sunday. This brings the number of dead victims to three. The whereabouts of the four remaining victims are still unknown.
The CEO expressed deep sorrow to the families of the affected victims. He also thanked Clean Nigeria Associates, Chevron, National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), NIMASA and the community for their support.
